Gianna Marzilli Ericson - Brand Strategist - boston

Education:
BA, Williams College: Studio Art, Religion, Psychology
Graphic Design Certificate, Massachusetts College of Art

Personal Trajectory:
When I was twelve, my mother bought me a design career guide. I read it to death and told everyone that someday I was going to work for a cool firm in a renovated brick building. Then I went to a liberal arts college and satisfied my desire to learn about everything else. It was amazing, except no one seemed to understand my interest in design. I tried multiple majors, settled on three, and thought I’d become a psychologist. In the process, I discovered that while I loved learning about almost everything, I still liked practicing design – and design thinking – better than I liked practicing anything else. So I returned to my original plan and searched for a place where I could use design methods to better understand people and to improve the environments, services, and communications they encounter. Hence my arrival at Continuum, which is located…where? In a renovated brick building? How about that.

Virtues:
Tenacity. Laughter. An eye for detail. Amazing facility with post-it notes. The ability to make vegetables taste good. Careful consideration of all my options.

Vices:
Random food obsessions (soft-serve ice cream and Del’s frozen lemonade for starters)…and careful consideration of all my options.

Favorite Project:
Big, complex ones. Oh, and the piggy bank I made in 8th grade art club – it has kept me from wasting more than a decade’s worth of spare change.

Special Interest:
Using design to improve experience, looking through the lens of a camera, cycling around Boston, learning new fiddle tunes, expanding my folk music collection, exploring Italian hill towns, playing with hedgehogs, searching out the perfect card or gift, browsing art supply stores with stuff arranged in color wheel order.
