011. Sunbeam - Zarafina Tea Maker
Between 1990 and 2004 the tea drinker category in America grew from 1.84 billion to 6 billion, suggesting a growing trend similar to the surge in coffee consumption of the 1980s. Sunbeam’s deep manufacturing expertise provided them with a unique opportunity to take advantage of this fast moving trend and define the ideal tea making experience.
The goal of the project became helping Sunbeam develop a new product for making the perfect cup of tea, utilizing a new technology and shaping a new Brand. Sunbeam had a breadboard model which already demonstrated its new tea-steeping technology. They enlisted our designers to present the technology in a form that complemented the peaceful experience of drinking tea. Sunbeam’s technology had the potential to impress even the most discriminating tea drinkers, thus the design challene was creating an appropriate product and brand experience that would appeal to this market. |
